A New Day In the MovementThe first step in reforming America is reforming our own progressive movement. To convince the rest of the world to follow our movement of social justice, we must first achieve social justice for our own movement. We believe that no organization whether it be advocacy, labor, community, or other starts out corrupt, unjust, undemocratic, or abusive to its employees, members, or others they represent, employ, or advocate for. Somehow, through the course of things it happens that organizations lose sight of why they started. There are several ideas as to why it happens, but from what we could find, not much of a plan to turn them around once it has happened. Injustice, employee abuse, fraud, embezzlement, and other problems exist among the groups operating today. Further, members, employees, and others try desperately to change their groups from the inside. Most of time they fail because they can’t match the power their respective leaderships hold. At Truth to Power, we’ve watched for years while those with legitimate cases get silenced through unethical and often illegal activity by their organizations. It’s our intention to change this one group at a time. www.speakingtruth2power.org is determined to assist those folks in the non-profit, community-based, labor, or other non-profit fields seeking to level the playing field between them and the leadership of their organizations so their grievances can be heard and acted upon. We are going to help them be heard much louder than they could be before. We will choose one group at first and take their case based on the evidence discovered, and not quit, until a settlement is reached. As we grow, we will take on more cases, but for now, we know we have the ability to see one fight all the way through to whatever end is necessary. If we prove worthy enough then maybe we’ll get some help to keep going. It is our hope that the groups we target will listen to their own folks and not force a confrontation. We will investigate claims thoroughly and, only after verifying those claims as sound and truthful, will we take on the case and get justice. I’m not a writer so please forgive me if this is incomplete but the pages in the website will help explain our purpose in more detail. We’ll also be updating the site often so please check back. I hope you’ll get involved in whatever way you can through discussion, blogging, or even donating. This is an experiment we are excited about and one we intend to see through. After we enter our first endeavor, it will be up to the folks we were assisting, as well as the organization to which they belong, to determine if it’s worth our continuing. I look forward to talking to you all. Sincerely, Gregory A. Hall |
